OpenAI launches ChatGPT for Clinicians, a free AI tool for physicians, NPs and pharmacists

OpenAI has introduced "ChatGPT for Clinicians," a new, free artificial intelligence tool specifically designed for verified healthcare professionals in the U.S., including physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and pharmacists. This initiative aims to streamline clinical workflows by assisting with tasks such as medical documentation, research, generating patient instructions, and drafting referral letters. The company stresses that the tool is meant to support, rather than substitute, clinical judgment. This launch expands upon OpenAI's existing healthcare-focused products, which include "ChatGPT for Healthcare" for organizations and "ChatGPT Health" for individual consumers. To guarantee safety and accuracy, OpenAI collaborated with numerous physician advisors and conducted extensive testing. Internal evaluations indicated that 99.6% of responses were deemed safe and accurate. The tool provides advanced AI models for tackling complex clinical questions, the capability to create reusable "skills" for repetitive tasks, and a reliable clinical search function that offers cited information from peer-reviewed medical sources.
